The BOMB

Welcome to the BOMB.

The Blog Of the "Mother" of Bandit.
Bandit is my Hairless Chinese Crested--he's the "normal" one. I, on the other hand, am unrepentantly "pet-crazy." You know the type--the spinster who lives in the haunted house three blocks over with 72 cats...okay, so I don't have 72 cats, and my house isn't haunted--but my dogs wardrobe is better than mine! Need I say more? :~)
I've never been consistant at journaling, so the timing of my blogs will be sporadic at best. I just hope they are as entertaining to you as they are to me; however, be forewarned: Most of my blogs will be about The BaldOne. In spite of his Don King "do," I think he's just as cute as any of the Brothers B!
Now, if I can just remember not to get him wet--or feed him after midnight...

About Me

My photo
My bags are packed and I'm always ready to seek out an adventure with Bandit and Moggy in tow. Bandit is my thirteen year old Chinese Crested, who I frequently call The Bald One or The BaldOne Boy (like he was one of the Baldwin Brothers). Moggy’s full name is Pip-Moggy. He’s my two year old gansta-resuce kitty. I couldn’t decide between Pip (which are the spots on die and domino tiles) and Moggy (or Moggie when I mistakenly thought he was a she), so I combined the two. Moggy refers to the British term for "cat of unknown parentage .” So in essence, I have an almost bald dog, and I’ve named my cat “Spot.”

Fun Stuff (I'm doing now or have done)

  • Artistic Attempts weekly (alternating between Painting With A Twist, That Art Place, and Peniot's Palette).
  • Bunko with the Belton Bunko Babes monthly.
  • Participating in the A to Z Blogging Challenge.
  • Spades and Liverpool Rummy with the Spadetts weekly.
  • The Mighty Texas Dog Walk, Austin (fund raiser for Service Dogs, Inc--they train shelter dogs to be Service Dogs, then give them free of charge to people with disabilities.)

A is for Accountability (A to Z Blogging Challenge 2015)

Accountability, that’s why I joined A to Z Blogging Challenge 2015. I’ve had a personal blog for several years now; however, I’ve never posted to it  consistently. When my blog and FaceBook no longer automatically linked (I’m tech-challenged, so I’m not sure if it stopped because of something I did, or if it was a FB change) , I focused on FB.  However, my FB posts became too long. After a long blogspot absence,  I relocated my blog user name, url, and password and gave myself a goal of blogging at least twice a week. While I have been blogging more, I still wasn’t quite reaching my goal on a consistent basis. When I saw this challenge, I thought accountability to someone other than myself might be needed,  and decided to join—and actively participate—in this blogging community.   This is a huge step for me. I tend to hang back and watch or listen.

But what to write?   My blog is up and running but nowhere near ready for readers, especially not other bloggers.  I looked at  a few bloggers and what they are doing. Some are going all out with specific themes or styles. I saw a blogger who is going to write 100-word flash fiction as his daily goal. Another who is focused on a foodie content. I have no style or theme, although I do love to write bad Limericks or equally bad Haiku (my favorite—actually, it’s not traditional Haiku, it’s more accurate to say I write really bad 5-7-5 meter).  I’ll try to keep the Haiku to a minimum, but I’m warning you now, it will appear. When I write on my blog, It’s usually fluffy stories about my Chinese Crested, our travels, our new kitten—lightweight stuff.  On occasion I write  something a little bit heavier, or with religious or political overtones.  But overall there is no theme, rhyme, or reason.  I just write what I think or feel at that particular time.
I’ve participated in a couple of these challenge things before, 30-day Photo challenge and NaNoWriMo  spring to mind.  There may have been more, but they have been blotted from my memory.  If you look to the letter of the law, I’ve never successfully completed a challenge. I came closest with the Photo challenge (which I started a few days late, and had to play catch-up) but I missed a few days after I joined.  I still participated and played catch-up with those days as well, and I considered it a partial success, but in reality it was a fail. I don’t like to fail, so I don’t look at the letter of the law too often.
What I liked about the AàZ rules were the entrance deadline (I wouldn’t be allowed catch-up), encouragement to read five or more of your fellow bloggers posts (I follow a couple, but in email form),  and the removal of dormant bloggers from the Blogger Participant List (I plan on staying).  Right now I’m number 1706. I think it may be my new lucky number.

As promised (aka warned), some really bad Haiku to commemorate my newest accountability attempt:

accountable me
insights bled daily for you
up for the challenge

(I hope to find an 8-year old that can help me place the A to Z Blogging Challenge badge on my blog and FB.)

  1. Hello. I am relatively new to flash fiction... but it is becoming quite enjoyable. Try some of the contests... a great way to encounter other writers. There are some haiku sites that are fun also. I like to read haiku more than write it. Come visit my site when you have a chance,
